Frank J. Veith, M.D., is Professor of Surgery, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH and New York University Medical Center NY, NY.  Additionally, Dr. Veith occupies The William J. von Liebig Chair in Vascular Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Veith graduated from Cornell University Medical School 1955, completed his residency at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Harvard Medical School 1956-63 and served as Captain, U.S. Army Medical Corps and Chief, Surgical Service, U.S. Army Hospital, Fort Carlson, Colorado 1960-62.


Dr. Veith is board certified by The American Board of Surgery, The American Board of Thoracic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Special Qualification in Vascular Surgery. As an internationally respected teacher, researcher, spokesperson, expert and pioneer in both the areas of single lung transplantation and the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease, Dr. Veith has lectured in over 40 countries. From 1974-1987, he was the Principal Investigator of three consecutive National Institutes of Health Program Project Grants for Experimental Lung Transplantation. In 1993, he received the National Institutes of Health Vascular Disease Academic Award.


Dr. Veith has authored or coauthored more than 1,000 original articles and chapters in prestigious medical journals, e.g., The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Circulation, Transplant, Surgery, The Journal of Vascular Surgery, Vascular, etc.. Dr. Veith is in high demand as a visiting professor, symposium speaker and thought leader in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery. Particularly noteworthy are his pioneering contributions to limb-salvage surgery and more recently the rapidly developing field of endovascular grafting for traumatic, aneurysmal and occlusive arterial disease.


Frank Veith serves on the editorial boards of:  Vascular, The Journal of Vascular Surgery, Annals of Vascular Surgery, Perspectives in Vascular Surgery and Vascular Surgery Outlook. Dr. Veith is past chairman of the American Board of Vascular Surgery, past President of the regional Eastern Vascular Society and served as the 50th president of The Society for Vascular Surgery. Beyond the accomplishments and activities in his vitae, Dr. Veith hosts the annual international VEITHsymposium, which explores current critical issues and controversies in the field of vascular disease management. VEITHsymposium is acknowledged to be the finest postgraduate course for Vascular Surgery in the world, now in its 45th year.


Dr. Veith has been interviewed numerous times for television, radio, newspapers and magazines. Frank Veith also manages to find time to be an avid and accomplished wind surfer.
